The invention relates to a method and apparatus for the combustion of large solid fuels. In order to improve the beneficial effect of sound on combustion, a bed of the fuel (131, located on a grate (12), is exposed to the high particle velocity of a sound positively produced by an external low frequency sound generator (25, 20), the frequency of which is determined by the sound generator, to provide a reciprocating movement of combustion air and combustion gas through the fuel bed. The dimensions of the grate in a plane transverse to the reciprocating movement of the combustion air and the combustion gas are less than a quarter of the wave length of the sound generated by the sound generator.

The device contains a grating 1, on which a layer 2 of fuel is placed, a resonator 3 having a low-frequency sound generator 4, as well as an air supply nozzle 5. In embodiments, the device is equipped with a combustion chamber 6 with a charging neck 7, an exhaust nozzle 8 and a passive resonator 9. In In one embodiment, the device comprises a bellows 10, adjustable by a signal from a pressure sensor 11 installed in a passive resonator 9. The latter may have an extension 12 with a collection of 13 solid particles. In the embodiment (FIG. 3) with external communications, the generator 4 is connected by pipe 14 to the blower 15. The exhaust pipe 8 is equipped with cooling shirts 16 and 17, a smoke exhauster 18 and a pipe 19.

Invention Formula
The method of burning lumpy solid fuel in the furnace by creating pulsations in air and gaseous combustion products to produce acoustic vibrations acting on the fuel placed on the grill, characterized in that, in order to increase combustion efficiency, pulsations are created using a low-frequency generator placed outside fireboxes, and oscillations generate with a maximum frequency. 60 Hz and a length of half-waves exceeding the equivalent lattice diameter in a plane perpendicular to the direction of propagation of the pulsations.
